About Lessons

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” -Victor Hugo

My passion is to help you develop a practice that makes you feel joy, catharsis, and community. I specialize in teaching beginners of all ages who want to cultivate their creative voice. Whether it’s playing along with your favorite songs, learning the language of written music, or finding yourself in your own writing, I design a learning experience that fits your unique addition to the world of music.

In our lessons we’ll discuss where you want to be and create an easy and enjoyable practice routine to get you there. We meet once a week online via Zoom video calls. Each session will start with learning new material and end with integrating it into a simple practice technique that you can use throughout the week.

New to online classes? It’s easier than ever! All you need is your instrument and a smart phone, tablet, or laptop to get started.

About Samantha

Samantha is a dedicated musician and teacher with a lifelong enthusiasm for music. Beginning her journey at age five with piano lessons, she developed deep connection to the art. She studied the violin for 10 years under her teacher, Sue Jesch, who organized a youth orchestra program in her hometown.

Continuing her education into adulthood, Samantha has devoted herself to studying and participating in the rich community of musical arts. She’s performed in groups large and small in a wide variety of genres including classical, rock, pop, and country. She also has experience with music production involving writing, recording, and touring with her own original songs.

Samantha has over ten years of teaching experience. As a teacher, she prides herself on tailoring her methods to align with the individual goals of each student rather than adhering to a rigid curriculum. She specializes in helping beginner and adult players develop proper technique and explore their creative expression.

Samantha is originally from the Reno and Carson City area. Currently residing in Portola, CA, she now teaches students all across Nevada, California, and the greater US.
